FEEL THE PAST – ENJOY THE PRESENCE
LLOYD’S BAR & RESTAURANT
Lloyd’s Bar & Restaurant is located at the historical Building of the North German Lloyd.
The Building has a long and turbulent history. It was built and designed for the order of the North German Lloyd company founded by Hermann Heinrich Meier and Eduard Crüsemann in 1857 and developed into one of the most important German shipping companies in the late 19th and early 20th century. Its architect was Rudolph Jacobs.
It was used as the luggage department building, therefore located next to the railway station of Bremen. Millions of European emigrates started from here with the train to Bremerhaven where ships of the North German Lloyd brought them to the “New World”. On September 1st 1970, the company merged with the Hamburg Amerida Line (HAPAG) to Hapag-Lloyd AG. Since then the building was the second seat of the Hapag-Lloyd AG.
Today you can still feel the atmosphere of wanderlust and old family stories. Let us take you away to a culinary trip – welcome to Bremen, welcome at Lloyd’s Bar & Restaurant.
